into the new year!

While most people think the new year starts on January 1, for me it starts at the beginning of each semester and getting the students into the classes they need and making sure each class has the correct type and size of classroom. There was snow last Thursday here (not enough to hardly notice), but it sends everyone here into a dither and school was cancelled, so yesterday I finally got my Tuesday/Thursday classes settled.

Leah is back at school and Jill is living at home while she does her student teaching. She's been going and observing for 2 weeks, but will finally start teaching some in the morning.

I'm taking a BQ2 class at my LQS along with Julia and have the top together, need to add the borders. I'm going to start a "bug" quilt tomorrow night.

On Saturday night we will all be sitting in front of the tv watching Hannah Kiefer compete for Miss America. Hannah is Miss Virginia and would be a great choice for this title. This is a pic of Hannah (on the left) when she came to root for Leah last year at Miss NC.

Friday............

Okay, one child is home from college, Leah drove in this morning from Campbell and stopped so I would take her to lunch. There is no Christmas tree up yet, just 2 wreaths out so I guess we will be working on things this weekend.

Lots of quilting projects to work on and maybe a trip to MaryJo's Fabrics tomorrow.

Getting started!

Well everyone has to start each project in their own time. Here is the start of a new venture in keeping up with me and my family. About me, full-time administrative coordinator at Wake Forest University, where I love what I do, I get to deal with students and professors. My husband is in law enforcement, so we have different shifts each week to get around in our daily lives. I am the proud mom of two very accomplished young women. Jill the older is a sr in college and will be home next semester to do her student teaching at a local high school. Leah is a sophomore in college and will be attending pharmacy school. The rest of the household consists of 4 legged members, 3 inside cats, 11 outside cats, and one huge lab puppy (8months old) named Lilly.

I love to quilt and sew. I have a wonderful local quilt shop and lots of really nice people who work and shop there.

well, as someone I work with says, more later..........
